Best Live Chat Plugins for WordPress (based on reviews)

The other night, while looking for a live chat / live support solution for my wife’s new website, I managed to find a mountain of very similar plugins. As with most people in this situation, I decided to go with who had the best reviews. The total quantity of reviews doesn’t matter to me, it’s more about the average sentiment of all the reviews that counts. I.e. How many people actually love the plugin.

Copy Compass - Content Analysis WordPress PluginIf you dont already know, Copy Compass is the latest project under the wing of the newly branded digital marketing agency, Talooma. Copy Compass is a WordPress plugin that analyses your copy to best search engine optimisation practices. it provides you with in overall score as well as highlights key areas that may need optimising within your copy.

Copy Compass is the ideal plugin for your blog or website. It allows you to optimise your copy in line with generally accepted SEO best practices.

It is ideal for the casual blogger or the more serious blog master or website owner who wants to ensure his content always ranks well within the search engine results pages.

For many months I have been wanting to release a meaningful WordPress plugin that can actually compete with the international big boys and I believe Copy Compass may just be able to do it.  Many hours worth of research, practice and a whole heap of overall brain cell usage has gone into this plugin. Copy Compass was originally developed in my spare time as an in-house tool for Talooma which was meant to increase the quality of copy, in terms of SEO, and to help our customers rank higher in the search engine results pages. Upon using Copy Compass internally, most of our articles and content have climbed the ranks substantially and much progress has been made.

The complete plugin is not available as yet and only a scaled down version of the plugin has been released into the market. This version includes functionality such as the following:

  • Monitor your reading ease score: This is an indication of how easy or difficult your text is to read.
  • Monitor your gunning fog index:  A useful representation of what grade level you need in order to comprehend the text (eg: Grade 7, 8 etc)
  • Keyword Density: All online marketers know the importance of keyword density and how it can affect your rankings.
  • Basic SEO principles: Copy Compass monitors some basic principles needed to do well in the rankings.

If you have any ideas, suggestions and/or comments about Copy Compass, please do not hesitate to make use of the form on the site. All feedback is welcome.

Google Me, maybe?

There’s been a “bit” of a rumour going around that the search giant Google may have another go at creating a social media platform. We all know that these rumours don’t just randomly appear out of nowhere, and after some research it would appear that a simple tweet has snowballed into a huge media-covered wonder.

GoogleThere’s been a “bit” of a rumor going around that the search giant Google may have another go at creating a social media platform. We all know that these rumours don’t just randomly appear out of nowhere, and after some research it would appear that a simple tweet has snowballed into a huge media-covered wonder.

A tweet originating (and then vanishing) by Digg’s co-founder, Kevin Rose wrote, in part, “huge rumor: Google to launch facebook competitor very soon ‘Google Me‘, very credible source.” Soon after this was tweeted, the tweet disappeared without an explanation. What makes this even more interesting is that this rumor was apparently confirmed by former Facebook executive, Adam D’Angelo. D’Angelo stated, “This is not a rumor. This is a real project. There are a large number of people working on it. I am completely confident about this.”

Does this mean Google is actually putting in more effort to create the ever elusive Facebook-killer? I sure hope so, but with recent failed products such as Google Wave and the completely dissapointing Google Buzz, I sure hope Google culminates its best efforts to get this done properly. However, it IS evident what Google’s capable of and I’m pretty sure this can actually be achieved if there IS in fact “a large number of people working on it”.

I for one, am not a Facebook fan as I despise having my personal information and pictures stored on a central server. I am however, waiting for the Diaspora launch which is rapidly growing in popularity. If Google can come up with something as secure and catchy, with a little flare I’ll be sure to give it a bash too. Good luck Google, you’ll need it.

TimeGlider - Timeline Software

Upon searching for timeline software that could help me depict important events in the SEO industry, I stumbled across TimeGlider. TimeGlider is a web-based timeline software for creating and sharing history and project planning.

TimeGlider is a data-driven interactive timeline application built on the Adobe Flash platform. You can create timelines about your family history or about special events in history that are of importance to you or your job. This online timeline software lets has a zoom range from hours to 600 year intervals, so as you can see, the possibilities with this are very broad.

There is a time traveler in each of us. Whether you are a litigator or an 8th grader, TimeGlider can quickly enhance your experience of the past, present, and future. Once you’ve explored a TimeGlider timeline, you’ll wonder why you’ve never seen information organized like this before.

This great piece of online software really got me going this morning. I landed up creating 6 timelines – one for the SEO industry as a whole, and 5 timelines for certain key events for some of our customers. It’s super easy to use and understand and really has a clean, professional look. Upon adding an event into your timeline, you have the ability to set the title, description, icon, link, associated image and a host of other features.

TimeGlider has a host of other great features such as letting the user import data straight from RSS feeds, Flickr accounts, and Wikipedia history data. I’m pretty sure later versions of this software will let you do even more.

There is a free version (which is the version I am currently using), a plus version and an enterprise version. As this is a relatively new tool, the plus and enterprise versions are still in development phase and will be available soon.

If I were you I would keep my eye on this tool. For more information visit http://timeglider.com.
